Si Uchawi! Diamond addresses claim he hides witchcraft paraphernalia in his cap

In December 2023, Diamond Platnumz raised eyebrows when he dispatched his security team and enlisted police help to recover a cheap green cap that was stolen from him in Dodoma.

The Wasafi boss, who was clad in a black outfit, a green cover-up shirt and a green cap to match, had been accompanied by his bodyguards as he was maneuvering through the streets to his car when a fan snatched the green cap off his head.

Diamond immediately ordered one of his bodyguards Onesmo to do all it took to recover the cap, saying the cap had sentimental value to him and matched most of the outfits he was to wear.

“Onesmo kofia lazima ipatikane kwa sababu ina nguo nyingi. Yani nguo zangu karibu zote nilizokuja ndo navalia kofia hili. Sasa mimi navaaje leo ndo maanake? Onesmo, staki aje hotelini baki na huyo afwatane nayo kaitafute pekeake,” he stated.

Onesmo working with another person found the cap and returned it to Diamond at his hotel.

The Wasafi boss expressed relief noting that despite being cheap, the cap was of great value to him.

“Shukrani sana ndugu yangu maanake kofia nimekuja nayo jana, sio kama ya bei nyingi ni ya kawaida lakini…” He said.

Later while performing at Wasafi Festival in Dodoma on Saturday night December 2, 2023, Diamond told his fans not to steal his outfits.

The fact that Diamond moved mountains to recover a lost cheap cap raised eyebrows with some critics saying he uses witchcraft which is placed in his caps.

The Wasafi boss has however  dismissed allegations of any supernatural influence associated with the cap.

“It is not witchcraft-infused or anything of the sort. It’s not that expensive as well,” Diamond said.

Adding that; “I was in South Africa and I really looked for a cap that was closed in the back, but most of them had an opening. I went through an entire mall and only found one cap, which is this one and bought it. And this was a perfect time. When I went to Dodoma, it was stolen, how do I let it go?”

Diamond made these remarks during a press conference convened on Thursday April 11, 2024, in Dar Es Salaam. He sported the same cap, complementing it with a green sweat-suit and white sneakers.

He further explained that his determination to retrieve the cap stemmed from the hardships he endured to acquire such a unique piece.

Diamod believes in witchcraft. In February 2024, the Bongo singer posted a video on his InstaStory and expressed his concern saying that he has probably been bewitched by means of a bat.

The musician claimed a bat had been sent by occultists to his house because he was about to release video for his new song.

Diamond’s rival Harmonize immediately joked that he was the one who sent the bad to his former boss’ house.
