Kenyan Arbantone artist Stoopid Boy, real name Edgar, died on August 27, 2026, amid reports of a prolonged struggle with mental health challenges, depression and substance abuse.
While an official and definitive cause of death had not been finalized by authorities at the time of reporting, accounts from people close to the musician and industry reports have pointed to suicide.
His death was confirmed by his friend and fellow artist Raveen Domi on Thursday, August 27, 2026, who shared the news while at Gotta City in Riverside, Tassia, Embakasi East constituency, saying the community was mourning the loss of one of its talented musicians.
He said the rapper asked him for Ksh25, but he did not have the money at the time. Domi told him he would try to get some money after reaching Mukuru and bring it to him.
“Nilikuwa natoka kwangu nikienda Mukuru, so akaniomba, I think alikuwa na number 25 bob, of which sikuwa nayo. Nikamwambia, ‘Ah bro sina, labda nikifika Mukuru nipate nikulete hivi,’” Domi said.
That would become their final interaction.
Domi said he later returned home and was called outside, where he was informed that Stoopid Boy had died at his mother’s house.
“Nimekaa hapo kwa nyumba kidogo kidogo, naitwa hapo nje, naambiwa Stoopid Boy amejinyonga na amejiinyonga kwa mamake. So sad guys, sad news kabisa,” he said.
Singer Jay Classic, who was Stoopid’s close friend, also confirmed the news in a Facebook video on Thursday, August 27, 2026, saying he had since arrived at his home in Gotta City.
He added that the artiste’s manager, Casto, had also arrived as news of his death spread.
“I am here at Gotha City, and Stoopid Boy has indeed died,” Jay Classic said.
“Sad news. Stoopid Boy amejinyonga. Niko hapa kwao sahii na mambo sio fiti, guys,” he added.
Stoopid Boy, who gained popularity through Arbantone hits including G Baga Jat, had in recent months been open about some of the personal challenges he was facing.
Reported battle with depression
The musician had previously spoken publicly about his mental health struggles.
In March 2026, Stoopid Boy reportedly made a public suicide threat during a period of intense personal and domestic distress, raising concerns among his friends and colleagues.
The incident highlighted the difficulties he was facing at the time and prompted efforts from people around him to support him.
Struggle with alcohol and substance abuse
Stoopid Boy was also reported to have battled alcohol and substance abuse, challenges that affected both his personal life and music career.
