Bensoul: My mother’s death made me contemplate switching to gospel music

Secular musician Benson Mutua Muia aka Bensoul opened up about how the death of his mother had a far-reaching impact on his music career.

Bensoul’s mother Susan Muia passed away on November 17, 2023, at the age of 63. She was buried in Embu on November 29.

In a conversation with SPM Buzz, Bensoul said that the death of his mother was a great blow to him.

He noted that his mother was a very God-fearing person and would not start a day before placing her family in the Creator’s hands.

Bensoul said that sometimes when he sits down and reflects on the pious life his mother lived, he really feels that he has the responsibility to continue that life for other generations to the extent that he evaluates composing gospel songs.

“My mother was the kind of person you can say was a devoted Christian, who every day of God’s life she must pray, that was my mother. Her death really affected my life in many ways and I feel she left the responsibility in my hands that I must pray for my family, I must hold them and profess Jesus in prayer, so expect many gospel songs from me,” Bensoul said.
