Mudavadi reveals why he won’t support or oppose BBI just yet

Musalia Mudavadi is buying time before he decides whether he is pro Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) or whether he will oppose the initiative altogether.

The political landscape of Kenya is currently defined by two factions – pro BBI camp which is being championed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, and anti-BBI which is spearheaded by deputy president William Ruto and allies.

BBI was conceived by Uhuru and Raila in March 2018, the idea behind it was to end political hostilities that characterize Kenya’s presidential elections.

Musalia Mudavadi is currently maintaining political fluidity in regard to BBI. Speaking during an interview with Star, the ANC leader revealed that he was waiting for expert advice before he declares his stand on BBI.

Mudavadi divulged that he had put together a team of constitutional experts to study BBI report, who then will advice him before he makes his stand known on BBI.

The ANC leader said he will receive the feedback from the experts in a week’s time, he also called on Kenyans to carefully read the report before they make informed decisions.

“Leaders should encourage people to read the document for themselves and decide if it is what they have been yearning for. Nobody should decide for the people. It is a 200 plus page document. I urge Kenyans to take their time and carefully look at it before making any pronouncements on it,” said Mudavadi.
