Raburu happy he’s finally losing weight following concerns his weight loss surgery flopped

Citizen TV presenter Willis Raburu underwent gastric bypass surgery which usually costs between Ksh600,000 and Ksh900,000.

Raburu was forced to address claims that his money went down the drain because he was not losing weight even after undergoing the expensive surgery.

“Sh900k went down the drain just like that? They deceived you,” a fan asked.

Raburu while responding to the concern raised by the fan explained that weight loss doesn’t happen overnight but rather takes time.

“It is a process. I was 164 kg and now I am down 21 kg. It takes patience. One day at a time. Even 21 kg down, I am still heavier than most but it is a process. Don’t be in a rush, it is an investment,” Raburu explained.

The Citizen TV presenter couldn’t hide his joy in a recent post on social media as he announced that he had so far lost 30kgs.

“The greatest investment you can ever make is on you! When I decided to do the Bariatric surgery I was so scared, but I did it. Will share story here soon. 30kgs down so far. The journey continues,” Raburu wrote.

In an earlier interview with YouTuber Mungai Eve, Raburu revealed that he was forced to undergo Gastric bypass surgery to lose weight for the sake of his health.

Gastric bypass is a type of weight-loss surgery that involves creating a small pouch from the stomach and connecting the newly created pouch directly to the small intestine.

Gastric bypass surgery shrinks the size of your stomach, so you can’t eat as much as you used to. The surgeon will also re-route, or bypass, part of your digestive system so you don’t absorb as much food. [sic]

The 35-year-old Citizen TV presenter said he opted for the surgery since going to the gym did not work out for him.

“I went for gastric bypass surgery. I respect watu wanaenda gym. Gym ni kazi, nilikua na good trainers but nilikua na loss weight but inarudi,” he said.

Adding that;

“By the time I was going for the surgery I was not doing well. I was 164kgs I needed the surgery because my blood pressure and cholesterol were high.”
