Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi alias Tems announced the cancellation of her Kenyan concert to the surprise of local promoters who booked her.
In a statement released via her social media pages, Tems detailed that she will not be performing at Tukutane Festival due to circumstances beyond her control.
“Hey, Kenya 🇰🇪. Honestly, it’s quite heartbreaking to say this but I will not be able to perform at the Tukutane Festival due to circumstances beyond my control,” Tems said in part.
The singer went on to explain that she is disappointed that she will not be meeting her Kenyan fans as early planned.
“I am as disappointed as you all are but I look forward to coming and giving you a show that you deserve. Love you all 💖,” Tems regretted.
However, hours later, Tukutane Entertainment released a statement claiming the Nigerian singer cancelled the show despite receiving full payment for the show.
“Kenya, sadly Tems has cancelled her show in Nairobi on October 15th due circumstances completely unexpected to us.
“As at three days ago, all was going according to schedule and plan. We paid for Tems in full 15 days before the performance date and to our surprise as soon as the payment was made, her manager mentioned that she is no longer comfortable coming to Kenya and just doesn’t want to perform for her Kenyan fans. We were shook, heartbroken and financially wounded,” the statement by Tukutane Entertainment read in part.
