The only child of veteran broadcaster Catherine Kasavuli who passed away at the end of last month has thanked all those who have been helping their family in one way or another following the death of his mother.

Martin Kasavuli has used his late mother’s Instagram page to express his sincere gratitude to Kenyans who have been providing various forms of support to their family since his beloved mother passed away.

At the same time, he has revealed that his late mother left a hospital bill balance of up to Ksh 4 million when she died.

“We have received so many messages especially from friends and family from people living abroad asking how they can contribute to the pending bill of Ksh 4 million,” he wrote on his mother’s Instagram account.

“Please contact me via DM or reply to this Instastory. I will send you the number of (my uncle, brother and Catherine). You can send your donation. God bless you.” he said.

Kasavuli died at the age of 60 on December 29, 2022 at the Kenyatta National Hospital where she was admitted after being diagnosed with cervical cancer.

His employer, KBC confirmed the death.

“The legendary broadcaster, Catherine Kasavuli, has passed away. She passed away on Thursday night (December 29) at KNH where she was receiving treatment,” KBC announced.

Kasavuli had been admitted to the center since October 26. A colleague at KBC had informed Kenyans about his condition.

Before facing his death, Kasavuli had returned to television after KBC hired him among other veteran journalists to improve the news station.

The deceased had taken a four-month break and returned to the public via Instagram in October.

In November, colleagues and friends in the media industry encouraged people to donate blood for blood transfusions after being admitted to KNH General Hospital.
