Businessman, Author, and Economist who is very keen on Kenyan politics and rule of law has called upon the legalization and the decriminalization of marijuana in the country.

David Ndii, through his official Twitter account, wants the government to allow the use of marijuana since it’s popular despite it being criminalized in the country.

The world-renowned economist said that marijuana was criminalized by colonialists.

The Economist even confessed on Twitter that he used to smoke bhang for years, in his teenage years, from 12 to 16 and he still managed to top his class.

“Marijuana was criminalized by colonialists. It follows that if we decriminalized it, the crime of smoking bhang will cease to exist.

I smoked bhang occasionally in secondary school (age 12-16), still topped my school in O-level exams.” David Ndii wrote on Twitter using the “Legalize Marijuana’ hashtag to finish his statement. “#LegalizeMarijuana”.

Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina wants marijuana legalized in Kenya

David Ndii who is ranked position 22 in the top 100 economists globally and the first-class student in economics at UoN way back in 1988 went ahead to name some of the greats and powerful people in politics, and otherwise who smoked marijuana with nothing happening to them.

He mentioned Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, Barrack Obama, Bill Clinton, Mike Sonko, and even President Uhuru Kenyatta as some of the people who he knows –on top of his head– who used marijuana.

He said went on to add that the criminalization of marijuana is hypocritical, and rather oppressive going on record saying that it’s only poor people who go to jail for marijuana offenses.

“Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, Bill Clinton, Barrack Obama, Uhuru Kenyatta, Mike Sonko among others. Criminalization of marijuana is hypocritical, oppressive. Only poor people go to jail for marijuana offenses. #LegaliseMarijuana” he wrote.
