Daddy Owen has been the topic of conversation for the last quarter of 2020 to the first quarter of 2021 after his separation from his wife, Farida Wambui whom he got married to back in 2016.

Daddy Owen real name Owen Mwatia has since been on numerous interviews speaking his truth, though subliminally, he hasn’t opened up in excruciating detail in his previous interviews until his recent interview.

The ‘Vanity’ musician was left by his wife of 4 years and the mother of his two children due to financial troubles. The couple had dated for four years before getting married. So in essence, they’ve been together for 8 long years.

Even when everything is out in the open, Daddy Owen who is known for not airing his dirty linen in public was keen on protecting his wife, Farida who has since left their matrimonial home and their two children.

“When the story came out, I was like…oh! I wouldn’t be the person to confirm it after all. But the fact is that whether I talk about it or not, the truth will eventually come out.

I wouldn’t be the one to come out and tarnish her (Farida’s) name and if I wanted to discuss our family issues, I would have done that a long time ago.

The truth is out there. It’s hard to fight it. I wish her all the best,” Daddy Owen told Standard Media on an exclusive sit-down interview.

Daddy Owen explains why he still wears a wedding ring despite rocky marriage

The singer went on, “I am a very private person and my privacy is mostly about my children.

As for me, I am a public personality and the public has a right to follow up on what is going on in my marriage, but I don’t want this to touch on our children at all.

I don’t want them to grow up and find that we made some bad decisions for them,”

Daddy Owen who recently turned 40 years old opened up about his urge of doing everything bad he could imagine like taking his own life after he fell into depression when everything in his life, marriage wasn’t working at all.

Daddy Owen openly confessed if he doesn’t put this issue to bed and effectively, it might as well ruin his life completely.

The MTV-MAMA-award-winning musician even stopped writing and releasing songs because his creative juice was all gone plus most of the time he could lock himself up in a room and cry trying to figure out why all this stuff was happening to him.

“We have been discussing our issues as a couple and consulting when things don’t go right. We haven’t been agreeing on everything and that is human.

However, when one wrong leads to another, you really have to get concerned and start thinking hard.

When it came to that, I fell into depression and could lock myself in the house and cry, asking God why this was going on.

I stopped writing and releasing songs, as my creativity wasn’t working. I could not pray, as I felt weak inside. I contemplated doing everything wrong, even death.

Nothing in life makes sense. The worst bit is that everyone out there thinks you have it all put together and life is progressive,” the System ya Kapungala hitmaker went on.

Opening up on how his doctor has since helped him get out of depression, and already back in the studio trying to release a song, his comeback single after taking a rather long music hiatus.

Daddy Owen is a music veteran in the industry, he’s been in the music industry for 18 years now.

Farida Wambui took Daddy Owen to court through her lawyers Amadi and Associates issuing a demand letter to Daddy Owen asking him to delete any and all photos of them being together on social media.

Divorce getting ugly: Farida Wambui writes Daddy Owen a demand letter

Daddy Owen when asked if he has any intentions to divorce his wife, Farida he was quick to answer with a Bible verse from Mathew 19.

“There is only one main ground for divorce in the Bible, go read Mathew 19. It is all explained there and so that is all I can say about that for now,” he said when he was asked if there are divorce talks on the table between him and his wife, Farida.

Mathew 19:8 Reads: “Jesus replied, ‘Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. 9 I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery’.”

Farida Wambui is yet to speak her side of the story, she hasn’t –at least publicly– talk about her separation from her husband of 4 years.
