Many people today might not relate or understand the stigma that HIV positive people used to go through 10 to 20 years ago because nowadays everyone is well educated about the HIV virus. One was regarded as an outcast if you had the virus and was subjected to ridicule, stigma and maybe worse, segregation.
Doreen Moraa who was born with the virus 24 years ago since one of her parents was positive has been battling stigma associated with HIV throughout her life and is now HIV activist who is not afraid to reveal her status and talk about it openly.
Today, she is the Hero of the DAY.
