Zuchu slams musicians buying YouTube views

Zuhura Othman aka Zuchu has complained about how some of her fellow artistes in Tanzania are focused on paying people to watch their music on YouTube.

The Sukari hitmaker claims that most musicians in the country do not sing songs that can hit like hers, but instead, they pay people so that those songs can be viewed.

On her Instagram page, Zuchu posted directing the blame and accusations to the aforementioned musicians, claiming that even some of them are doing it secretly.

“Nawaza sana kama msanii, umejisikiaje kununua viewers? Ni kama unakuwa unajua nafasi yako ila ndiyo hivyo tena unaificha ficha kimoyomoyo…unajisikiaje kwani. Ni Tanzania pekee,” she posted.

Zuchu, who is signed to Diamond Platnumz’s Wasafi music label, only recently released a new song ‘Honey’ which garnered 2.4 million views in a week.

In a survey conducted in June by Charts Tanzania, the artiste was ranked number three, and the first female, among Tanzanian musicians whose songs were viewed the most for a period of one month.

In addition, since Zuchu joined the Wasafi recording company, has been very popular, doing shows in East Africa and also internationally.

Zuchu joined Wasafi in 2020. She boasts of several hit songs like ‘Sukari’, ‘Nitalia’, ‘Kwikwikwi’, ‘Nani’ and others.
