The incumbent president, Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni has been declared the President of Uganda.

Uganda’s election commission declared Yoweri Museveni the winner of the presidential election.

This will further extend his 35-year rule to 40 years until the next general elections in 2026.

Yoweri Museveni, 76, won the elections with 5,851,037 votes which is 58.64% of the total votes cast as opposed to his main rival Robert Kyagulanyi(Bobi Wine) who came second with 3, 475,298 votes which translate to 34.83% of the total votes.

“The electoral commission declares Yoweri Museveni … elected president of the Republic of Uganda,” said election commission chairman Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama.

The electoral commission of Uganda announced the winner in a televised news conference on Saturday.

Bobi Wine, 38, said on Friday that he had video proof of election fraud that he would be more than ready and willing to share as soon as internet connections get restored.

On January 13th, Bobi Wine hinted there was a plot by Uganda’s Electoral Commission to rig the election while shutting down the internet completely.

“Conspiracy by the dictator & his biased Electoral Commission is in a new phase. A plot to rig is set, internet is completely shut down & media is censored. However, the pple of uganda are firm and nothing will stop them from ending this oppresive regime.” he said in his tweet.

The next day, January 14th, 2021, Bobi Wine, a singer-turned-lawmaker disclosed that his phone together with that of his wife was intensionally blocked making it hard for him to communicate with his agents and coordinators.

“Like my wife’s, my phone has been blocked and I am unable to recieve or make regular calls. I know this is to stop me from communicating to our agents and coordinators. I encourage you comrades to be vigilant as I try to devise ways of reaching out to you.”

The next day, January 15, Bobi Wine encouraged Ugandans through his Twitter account and thanked them for turning up in huge numbers to vote for him before telling the whole world that his house was under siege with military personnel jumping over his home fence taking control of their home.

“Hello Uganda! Despite the wide spread fraud and violence experienced across the country earlier today, the picture still looks good. Thank you Uganda for turning up and voting in record numbers. The challenge now is for Mr. Byabakama and the EC to declare the will of the Pple.” one tweet read.

“We are under siege. The military has jumped over the fence and has now taken control of our home,” another tweet read with this tweet, “None of these military intruders is talking to us. We are in serious trouble. We are under seige.” being his last tweet that he sent out.
