Sanaipei Tande took to social media to open up about how misunderstood Rasta men are in Kenya.

She opened up about the love she has for them because they’re among the coolest, most welcoming people everywhere. She even touched on why her ‘Rasta Man’s hit track record is one of her favorite songs in her entire music catalog.

Despite releasing the song a few years ago, it still resonates with what’s going on right now. Tande wants the persecution of Rasta men or people with dreadlocks by the police to stop completely.

Taking to Instagram, she wrote;

“When I wrote the song RASTA MAN several people asked me why I keep writing love songs. RASTA MAN isn’t JUST a love song.

It’s a message. A message that couldn’t be more appropriate and necessary TODAY. 2021. STILL.

We have misconceptions about the ‘Rasta’ and it is so evident in the way they’re being profiled, harassed, arrested and even KILLED today because someone somewhere decided rasta is a thug rasta is a peddler rasta is a user rasta is DANGEROUS. STOP HARASSING OUR RASTA PEOPLE! Kisses đź’‹ to the RASTA!!!”
