Mugiithi singer Samuel Muchoki alias Samidoh decided to touch people’s lives with his initiative dubbed the Guitar ya Samidoh initiative.

The father of five targets poor families and youths with his initiative which assistance in the form of donations and provides a platform for excellence in arts.

Samidoh has been sponsoring needy students from his former high school in Nyandarua County.

The musician said the initiative was inspired by his humble beginning where he was partially raised by the community after he lost his mother while in high school.

“We have also been recording music for a few upcoming artistes we identified like JN Gakuhi, 90k Kamso, wanjiru wa Wire and we will continue to do that,” he said.

In the past few weeks, Samidoh and his wife Edday Nderitu distributed food items to vulnerable families affected by hippo invasion in Nyandarua County.

Speaking during the distribution in Kasuku area, Samidoh said marauding hippos occupying neighbouring Lake Ol Bollosat have been destroying residents’ crops, thereby limiting farming activities.

“Residents of this area are facing numerous challenges, they are battling the effects of drought caused by minimal rainfall and stray hippos from the nearby lake encroaching on farmlands,” Samidoh said.

He added that his initiative also also distributed avocado seedlings to over 450 needy families from Inooro Gatumbiro and Gatimu villages.

“The smiles on their faces is a reminder to never stop caring for those in need. Special thanks to My Family, Friends of Samidoh and everyone who made it a success,” Samidoh said.
