Reuben Kigame who is clinically blind says that he’s been recording music since 1987 having released a lot of studio albums during that time because he’s been consistently putting out music since the same year, he started recording music.

He questioned how his multiple songs have been getting played on almost every event and public gatherings including events of police and military bands but only receive KShs. 18,000 in royalties. It doesn’t make sense to him one bit.

“Been recording music since 1987. Released 29 albums with daily airplay in many stations around Kenya. My songs are played on just about every public event including by police and military bands. Yet at the end of the month, I can only look forward to about ksh18,000 in royalties” Reuben Kigame opened up further.

“Before I am told to be grateful, think about MCSK and PR I SK hoarding royalties from 2009, sAFARICOM and other bodies getting the bigger share in collections, piracy and cartel theft! If anyone doubted God can provide, ask me.” He added.

“Dear Reuben, your Feb-21 royalty has been deposited to your Okoa Wallet.

  1. Ziada loan Ksh6,986.08
  2. Instant loan Ksh0.00

Kigame went ahead to also question why out of KShs. 10, he only gets to keep KShs. 2. He can only wonder how much other musicians are getting.

“So this is the point: I am one of those doing very well, or so I assume. What are other musicians getting? Out of Ksh 10 of skiza royalties, I keep ksh 2 or 3. The rest is somebody else’s!” he added.

Kigame’s tweets has resonated with a lot of people since yesterday which made him trend on social media and become the topic of discussion in the entire country.
