Veteran Tanzanian singer Joseph Haule alias Professor Jay has been ailing for a while, he has been admitted to hospital for close to a month now.
Professor Jay’s situation was highlighted by rapper Ambwene Yessayah aka AY who took to social media to appeal to the public to support the ailing singer whose hospital bill was ballooning.
AY said that Professor Jay is spending Tsh4 million (Ksh200,000) a week on medical expenses and was in need of financial support.
“The family is yet to formally ask for help in this matter. But it is our responsibility to help because he is our colleague and one of us having entertained us for more than two decades,” said AY.
It has now been revealed what Professor Jay is suffering from. According to US-based Tanzanian blogger Mange Kimambi, the veteran rapper suffered kidney failure and also High Blood Pressure (HBP).
Apparently, Professor Jay has been undergoing dialysis at Muhimbili National Hospital for close to a month, doctors are also trying to stabilize his pressure.
It is alleged that Professor Jay’s condition became worse after he got Covid-19. His family has not confirmed or denied the allegations.
Jay was first admitted to Lugano Hospital but was transferred to Muhimbili hospital due to the severity of his condition.
According to Mange, his condition has greatly improved but he still needs a lot of prayers from his fans.
His wife told Wasafi media he is improving.
Zuchu, who recently got married to Diamond Platnumz said she was working on a project with Prof Jay before he fell ill.
