10 photos of Ksh 1 billion Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega that will be opened during Cecafa tournament

Bukhungu stadium is ready to host 2017 Council of East and Central Africa (Cecafa) tournament matches slated for December 3rd to 17th.

The stadium is being up-gradated to the tune of Ksh 1 billion. So far more than Ksh 399 million has been spent in phase one of the project.

Already 2,000 seats have been fitted and works done on the self-contained VIP lounge, dressing rooms, and referee rooms.

The second phase for the upgrade is expected to begin immediately after the Cecafa tournament. Once completed Bukhungu stadium be able to host a capacity of 30,000 people.

The facility will also have automated gates to enhance revenue collection for the county government.

Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya says his government intends to upgrade the facility to international standards.
