Noti Flow gave up on her music career in 2020 shortly after she dropped club banger ‘Foto Moto’ with Benzema of Ochungulo Family. Even though the song was a big success, she didn’t earn even a single coin from it.

‘Foto Moto’ became a big hit, it has so far garnered over four million views on YouTube. Even though the song was Noti Flow’s most successful music project, the fact that she didn’t make any money from it compelled her to dump her music career.

Speaking during an interview with YouTuber Mungai Eve, Noti Flow revealed that she ultimately decided to quit music because she wasn’t making any money.

“Music wasn’t giving me money, you know I don’t have management. All these managers would approach me and some of them just want me and not really like music or business-oriented. I decided to take a break, just work on myself, save up you know. Music is like just passion now, it’s not like a job coz it doesn’t being in any money,” said Noti Flow.

Asked how come she wasn’t making any money from music yet her ‘Foto Moto’ was a big hit, Noti Flow revealed that someone made a copyright claim on the song as a result she couldn’t earn revenue from it.

She explained that an instrumental Benzema used in the song was someone’s else work and they made a copyright claim when the song went viral.

Noti Flow however lamented that Ngomma didn’t fight for her.  Ngomma is an online music platform that manages and promotes artistes’ content, especially on YouTube. It’s basically a YouTube management program that promotes musicians’ song and shares revenue with artistes.

“Imagine it (Foto Moto) has 4 million-plus [views] I got nothing. I paid for video, audio everything, every little thing like makeup, outfit, location… I got nothing. Ngomma they usually sign Kenyan musicians they say we will protect your music copyright and everything and we will pay you but they don’t. So there was a little problem coz Benzema came with an instrumental and he told me that it’s his instrumental so we used it then some guy came and claimed for copyright. Then that’s it, I never got anything.

“Ngomma should have come and intervened, you know to help me as an artiste coz[sic] they are supposed to promote my songs and protect my music.. they should have come and said ok the instrumental is yours but she spent all this money and this and this si you get 30% we get 20% she gets 50% or something… I got nothing. It made me just lose hope, everywhere I go am being played on TV, radio everywhere and then am not getting any money,” Noti Flow bitterly complained.
