Nandy addresses the rebellion in her music label African Princess

2 mins read

Nandy for the first time has opened up about the reports of a storm brewing in her music label African Princess that has pitted her against her signee.

There have been reports that Nandy and her signee Yammi have been embroiled in a conflict that threatens to prematurely end the contract of the signee similar to what happened between Diamond and Harmonize 2019.

Nandy confirmed that it is true that there has been a misunderstanding but she said that it is not a big thing that could cause a rift between her and Yammi.

Nandy added that she understands Yammi because at the stage she is she feels that she has gained a little bit of fame thus she has become proud.

She added that stardom is what is bothering Yammi, noting the the signee will come back to her senses and correct herself.

“Kuhusu Yammi_tz nisingependa kuongelea sana ila tuko sawa! Bado yupo African Princess! Kupishana inatokea, si unajua bado ni mdogo, halafu u-star ndo unakuja kwa hiyo lazima kuwe na vitu kama hivyo! Ukimuangalia Yammi wa mwanzo ni tofauti na wa sasa, mabadiliko ni mengi!” Nandy said.

Nandy started her own label African Princess Label in 2022 and signed Yammi as her first artiste, she has remained the only artist two years later.

When launching the label, Nandy said that it will be a slightly different label in its activities as it will be associated with female artists only.

Nandy said that the biggest incentive to start a label for female artistes only was to support female musicians because she sat down and assessed the state of Art in Tanzania and discovered that it is dominated by male musicians.

Nandy noted that she saw that many budding female musicians were failing to rise due to oppression by male domination and that some female musicians were also sexually exploited.
