4 mins read

Mercy Masika, the ever gospel singing artiste has opened up about the current gospel situation in the country to speak about it, not a lot of musicians have opened up about the current gospel music industry.

The ‘Mwema’ hitmaker who has been married for 12 years(they celebrated their anniversary on 30th August) to one David Muguro with whom she has two teenage children with openly went on ahead to address the “elephant in the room”, at least in the gospel music industry’s “room”.

According to the multiple hitmaker and brand ambassador, she disclosed that the inspiration behind the music has been blurred by most artistes being driven by business as their motive of making music than being true to their calling of putting out inspirational music.

“The reason much of today’s music lacks inspiration and memorability is that people have blurred the lines and turned music into too much of a business.” Mercy Masika Maguro said.

“The last 12 years have been amazing because I got married to a really awesome Man.” Mercy Masika said, celebrating her husband, David Muguro on their 12th wedding anniversary, adding:

“Thanks David Muguro for loving me and nurturing me…Happy Anniversary to us.”

Masika stressed that for any artistes to remain true to inspire and impact people’s lives with and through their music, it talks courage and not only that but moral courage.

“It takes moral courage to remain true to inspire, impact and be true to who you are called to be.” Mercy Masika continued.

Mercy Masika went on to admit that as much as she champions for being true as an artiste, it might take time for the sacrifice to pay at the end of the day, but when it does it pays really well and even gives you an opportunity to be one of the respected artistes in the music industry who stays true to their values and true convictions.

“And even though remaining true may sometimes take time to pay…it pays veery well. There’s a confidence that comes from being true.” Masika who is the UNHCR Goodwill Ambasador concluded her social media post that a lot of gospel artistes seem to agree with, for instance, Manolo totally agrees with her completely.

Mercy Masika has been recording music since she was young and she has never strayed even once, she’s been consistently putting out good, quality, unfiltered gospel music that usually speaks with the listeners.

Among many others, Mercy Masika has released hit gospel records like ‘Mwema’, ‘Shule Yako’, ‘Nikupendeze’, ‘Muite Yesu’ and her recent hit record, ‘Nivute’ that she released 1 week ago.
