Beware: updated list of all crime hot spot areas in Nairobi

Nairobi is facing security and crime incidents as reported by many Kenyans living in the capital.

Therefore, it’s crucial to prioritize your personal safety as you pursue your goals, at your business or just on your way home.

A recent survey of Nairobi County’s crime rates was done.

The findings showed that crime is on the rise and that criminals are targeting people of all ages, businesses, M-Pesa service providers, residential properties, etc.

Most crimes, according to witnesses, are carried out in broad daylight.

The police and the DCI must act now become the situation gets out of hand like we’ve seen before in South Africa through videos shared online.

Current and recent crime hot spot locations in Nairobi

Drive in flyover, up to KCA along Thika road; KCA underpass and Total Petrol Station exit also along Thika road; Globe Cinema roundabout and Kipande road; ABC Place and Kangemi also along Waiyaki route; and within the CBD, River Road, Archives Area, Kirinyaga Road, and Fig Tree are among the places impacted.

Other areas across Nairobi County

Kibra or Kibera, Mathare, Huruma, Babadogo, Kariobangi, Dandora, Kayole, Kawangware, kangemi, and Mukuru Kwa Njenga are just a few.

It is critical to prioritize your personal protection while in these areas, stay alert as we wait for the authorities to deal with the offenders.

  • Do not resist, argue or fight back with the criminal gangs but comply with their demands.
  • Do not carry ATM cards when not absolutely necessary.
  • As a pedestrian, be aware of your surroundings.
  • Avoid walking alone in darkness, try as much as possible to get home before it’s too late.
  • Reduce the use of mobile phones, tablets and laptops in traffic (especially if you do not have tinted glasses).
  • Evaluate the amount of money to be deposited in your M-Pesa account.
  • Do not leave bags, wallets or any valuable item on the chair of your vehicle when parking in a public place as it attracts criminals.
  • Take note of parked cars, individuals loitering around you.
  • Keep your car doors locked and rolled up at all times.
  • While driving home, lookout for cars following you, look out for cars parked too close to your gate, watch out for unfamiliar individuals in your neighborhood.
  • Highly advisable to install CCTV systems in your homes and those with security fences, ensure they are working.
