Media personality Larry Madowo survived a gun attack while dining at a restaurant in Florida, United States of America (USA).
Nine people were shot and injured in a shooting near Florida’s Hollywood Beach Broadwalk on Monday May 29, 2023.
Police said the shooting began as an altercation between two groups in a busy area of the beach.
Of the nine victims, four are minors between the ages of 1 and 17, and five are adults between the ages of 25 and 65, according to a police update.
Hollywood police detained multiple people Monday, including two men they believe to be involved in the shooting who were arrested on weapons charges, Hollywood Police Department spokesperson Deanna Bettineschi said at a news conference Tuesday.
Larry Madowo on Tuesday said he could have ended up among the people who were shot.
The CNN reporter disclosed that the shooting happened while he was dining meters away at a restaurant.
“We were at a restaurant on the Hollywood Oceanfront Broadwalk in Florida when a shooting happened down the street. I took this picture while we were eating. We could have easily been part of the US gun violence statistics if we weren’t so hungry and took the first spot,” Larry Madowo tweeted.
He said he was there when the shots rang out and they did not know what was happening until they saw people running away from the beach.
