“Kiss FM refused to pay me Ksh1 million salary” – Obinna opens up

1 min read

Former Kiss FM presenter Obinna revealed that he sought a Ksh1 million salary from his former employers who refused to renew his contract after it expired on April 17, 2023.

Obinna joined Kiss FM after Lang’ata MP Felix Odiwour aka Jalang’o exited the media industry for politics in February 2022.

Jalang’o was reportedly being paid a Ksh1.2 million salary by Kiss FM and when Obinna joined to replace him he asked for a Ksh1 million salary thinking the station’s management would easily pay him.

However, to Obinna’s shock, Kiss FM refused to pay him the Ksh1 million salary he was seeking.

Obinna revealed that he asked for a Ksh1 million salary while advising comedian Eddie Butita who asked Kiss FM for a Ksh1 million monthly salary to replace Obinna.

“Dear @kiss100kenya mko na 1 million per month? Price is not negotiable #ikokazikenya,” Butita wrote.

“Hata mimi nilitaka hiyo ikakuwa tricks. Punguza kidogo economy ni mbaya. Cheza na 700 hapo. All the best,” Obinna replied to Butita in a quick rejoinder.

In another post, Obinna warned his would-be successor not to dare ask for anything more than a Ksh700,000 monthly salary.

“The next person acheze na 700 hapo, times are tough usiitishe 1M hautapata, hata 710 usidhubutu. May the next best man/woman/them win. Ukiipata hiyo chance, piga kazi safi that’s one of the best platforms and employers you will find in this town. God speed!!” Obinna wrote.
