Nicki Minaj has denied Kanye West’s request to use her verse from their 2018 collaboration ‘New Body’ on his new album ‘Vultures’.

Kanye on December 14, 2023, took to Twitter and shared a screenshot of a text message he sent to Nicki Minaj asking for her permission to use her verse.

“Hi it’s Ye, may I call you about clearing ‘New Body’ on the new album,” Kanye West’s message to Nicki Minaj read.

Moments later, Nicki took to Instagram Live to announce to her fans that she had rejected Kanye West’s plea to use her verse.

“Regarding Kanye, that train has left the station, okay? No disrespect in any way. I just put out a brand-new album. Why would I put out a song that’s been out for three years? Come on, guys,” Nicki Minaj said during the livestream.

“I missed it by a year, I guess. Had ‘New Body’ been out when he was not in his gospel era, then it would’ve seen the light of day. But, it didn’t, so it wasn’t meant to be. Everybody knows that’s the hit that got away… I think the ship has sailed for ‘New Body’… Everybody has come to love the original way they heard it,” she added.

Kanye West went on a rant after Nicki Minaj not only rejected his request but also shamed him on Instagram live.

He recalled helping Nicki on her music career, noting that he worked with her on his 2010 song ‘Monster’ – seemingly accusing Nicki of forgetting the part he played in turning her into a superstar.

“I made that girl rewrite her verse three times for ‘Monster’. I supported her career. So I don’t know what it is,” Kanye West ranted.
