Chris Brown headlined ‘Mombasa Rocks’ concert held at the Mombasa golf club on October 9th 2016. Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho has been sued for failing to pay for the chopper he used to get to Chris Brown’s concert.

Business Aircraft Management Ltd, which operates as Flex Air Charters, is demanding Sh2,534,768 from the flamboyant Mombasa governor.

Court papers filed through lawyer Donald Kipkorir show that Joho used a chopper belonging to Flex Air Charters to fly to Chris Brown concert held at Mombasa golf club.

Kipkorir notes in the court papers that Joho agreed to pay the hiring fees to Flex Air Charters for use of helicopter AS 350 B3, but the governor is yet to pay the full amount.

The lawyer further holds that despite their client serving Joho with demand notices, the governor severally refused or neglected to make good the claim.

Flex Air Charters wants Ksh 2.5 million owed as of October 26th 2016, on account of principal sum plus accrued interest over the close to three year period.

It’s interesting to note that Joho reportedly bought his own personal chopper in 2018. Early in that year, Jamal Gaddafi confirmed to SDE that the Mombasa governor bought a brand new chopper a  French-made Eurocopter with the registration number 5Y-HLI.
