Bar owners in Nairobi have criticized governor Johnson Sakaja’s administration’s plan to kick nightclubs out of residential neighborhoods as being ineffective.

But, Johnson Sakaja is not laughing; he has briefed police officers who will make sure his directive is followed to the last letter.

The County Government’s decision, according to the Bar, Hotels and Liquor Traders Association of Kenya (BHALITA), is unfair and may result in the loss

County Secretary Jairus Musumba announced Friday that due to noise pollution, they will no longer grant or renew licenses for nightclubs operating in residential areas.

According to the notice, nightclub permits will only be granted to establishments operating in the CBD and certain streets in particular residential districts.

Via his Twitter account, governor Johnson Sakaja says;

“Last call. No nightclubs in residential areas.”
