Comedian Davies Mwabili, popularly known as Inspekta Mwala will be charged with causing the death of 35-year-old Ismael Mangi through dangerous driving regardless of whether he seeks out-of-court settlement with the family of the deceased.

A source close to the late Ismael Mangi’s family divulged to the press that Inspekta Mwala had approached the family and is negotiating to have the case be solved out of court, and that the process is ongoing.

Rabai Police Sub-County Commander David Maina however confirmed Mwala will be charged with causing death through dangerous driving even if he seeks out-of-court settlement.

“The family is not the complainant, it is the republic on their behalf and a case of causing death cannot be settled out of court. We will charge him and if the family wants to settle the matter out of court it is upon them, but we will have done our part,”  said David Maina during an interview with Nation.

Inspekta Mwala will be arraigned in Mariakani court, Kilifi County on Friday September 6th. The comedian is out on a Ksh 40,000 police bond.

The victim’s body released to the family for burial after a post-mortem was conducted on the body at the Coast General Hospital mortuary last Tuesday.
