A local radio station was forced to cancel an interview with musician Lawrence Njuguna aka DJ Fatxo that was slated for Friday.

In a statement from the Public Relations team, the radio station noted that the decision to cancel the interview that was scheduled to take place in the morning session followed many complaints from fans.

The station noted that many of its fans strongly opposed the interview with the musician claiming that it is offensive.

“The station canceled the interview with Lawrence Wagura Njuguna, popularly known as DJ Fatxo, which was scheduled for today (Friday, August 18). This is due to online complaints from our fans, who felt it was bad. As an organization, we value our customers and our listeners, you come forward,” the station’s statement read.

In the last few months, DJ Fatxo, who is a Kikuyu singer, has been making efforts to return to the public and continue his music career after the allegations of Jeff Mwathi’s murder were cleared. Fatxo has faced a backlash from the public since he was linked to the death of the 23-year-old who died at his home in February.

In May, the Director of Public Prosecutions acquitted DJ Fatxo and his colleagues of the murder of Jeff Mwathi and explained why no one was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the death of the 23-year-old.

In a letter to the Director of Criminal Investigations signed by Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Gikui Gichuhi, the DPP cited evidence that exonerated the suspects.

The DPP said Jeff, whose real name is Geoffrey Mwathi Ngugi, visited DJ Fatxo on February 21 for interior design work at his business along the Eastern Bypass.

He said that the two together with Jeff’s friends went out for food and drinks in various bars before returning to rest at Fatxo’s house at nine o’clock at night on February 22. The house was on the 10th floor of the Redwood apartment in the street of Roysambu, Nairobi.

“It was reported that the deceased disappeared from the guest bedroom and his body was found on the ground floor of the building,” Haji said.

The DPP said subsequent investigations, witness statements and post-mortem results confirmed that Jeff Mwathi died at the scene where his body was found.
