41-year-old Ciru Muriuki stated that 38-year-old Charles Ouda despite being younger than her gave her love that no other man has ever given her.

The former BBC journalist narrated her love story with Charles Ouda during a memorial vigil held at the Baraza Media Lab on February 14, 2024.

Ciru revealed she saw Charles for the first time when he was still a student at St. Mary’s High School while she had just completed her secondary education.

“The first time I ever saw Charli on stage was several years ago when he was still at St. Marys. I just finished high school and my goodness I thought he was so fine waah! With that smile of his that lit up the stage. If anyone told me that 20-plus years later this luminance effervescent man would asked me to marry him I would have laughed you out of the room,” she said.

The media personality disclosed that Charles and her hit it off when she returned to Kenya from US following the death of her father.

Ciru added that at first Charles and her were just friends with benefits before they made their relationship official.

“You see this love story of us took me by surprise. When Charli and I reconnected after I came back from New York I wasn’t really looking. I lost my dad a year before and I was still trying to navigate the enormity of that loss. So he and I began a friendship that later had some benefits, si tulisema tunasema ukweli? But you know after a while it was clear that there was something between us that was completely undeniable so I fought it then when I accepted it now it was his turn to fight it. But there was this almost cosmic pull between us,” she said.

Ciru Muriuki further heaped praise on Charles Ouda stressing that he indeed knew how to love a woman.

“Let me tell you guys, I am almost 42 years old and I have never been loved like that. It wasn’t about the grand gestures, it was about the comfort, the easy intimacy, that wonderfully silly friendship between us,” she said.
