Churchill responds after being criticized for hijacking Christina Shusho’s gig, turning it to a comedy show

Kenyans successfully lobbied Christina Shusho to perform in the country but the event has been turned to a comedy show by Churchill.

Shusho was scheduled to perform on the sidelines of a New Year’s Eve (NYE) comedy show much to the displeasure of fans who were expecting a praise and worship concert.

Through his Instagram account, Churchill engaged netizens asking them to give suggestions for their ideal NYE gig this year and most are pushing for a full-blown gospel concert headlined by Christina Shusho.

“Ati umesema Unataka nini 31st?..đŸ€”đŸ˜ Ata Mimi nataka kupiga nduru Moja safi!!!” Churchill wrote.

Several Kenyans including content creator Purity Vishenwa alias Pritty Vishy were quick to express their frustrations with gospel singer Christina Shusho’s upcoming gig when they found out that it has been turned to a comedy show instead of a full blown gospel show.

Vishy bitterly complained that Shusho objectively sold herself short by agreeing to be lined up with comedians for the New Year’s Eve(NYE) event.

She opined that fans wanted a concert where Christina Shusho would be a main act and not a performer on the sidelines.

“This is just my view of Shusho coming gig
sasa WaKenya wamelia wanataka Shusho then mwito ikakubaliwa
tell me why anakuja Churchchill. It’s not bad but yooh Kenyans wanted conert si kuchekeshwa then waimbiwe 10 minutes. On behalf ya wenye ilikuwa atatwende tumeshangaa sana,” she wrote.

Christina Shusho is set to perform in Kenya following an online appeal by her fans in the country that compel her to hold a gig in 254.

Several Kenyans including celebrities like Robert Burale launched an online appeal to plead with Christina Shusho to heed to the cries of her fans in Kenya.

The Tanzanian gospel singer ultimately told her Kenyan fans that she heard their pleas and that she was working with Churchill to organize a show in Kenya.

“Due to increasing demands for a concert in Kenya my team and I are working with @MwalimChurchill to have a concert on the 31st December 2023,” Christina Shusho announced on November 27, 2023.

Hours after her announcement, Christina Shusho actually confirmed her Kenyan show.

The Tanzanian singer revealed that she will be performing in Kenya on the night of December 30, 2023 to usher in the new year 2024.

“Ahsanteni kwa upendo. Ntafika Nairobi for overnight 31.12.2023 cc @MwalimChurchill @NRGRadioKenya,” Christina Shusho wrote.

Christina Shusho later on faced a backlash from Kenyans who petitioned her to perform in the country after she invited First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto to her concert.
