Chiki: The fact that Bien has given me freedom doesn’t mean I am sleeping around

Sauti Sol singer Bien and his wife Chiki Omwukwe aka Chiki Kuruka have been under the microscope ever since reports emerged that the two are in an open marriage.

Open marriage or relationship is one in which both partners agree that each or one may have sexual relations with other people.

Speaking during an interview with a local publisher, Chiki strongly dismissed the claim that her husband and her are in an open marriage.

She explained what transpired after Bien’s interview that led to people believing that they are in an open marriage.

“He (Bien) never said that, again that was just bad reporting. He said two things. The first was on the family where I went to Ghana and met Idris Elba, so first, you have to understand me and Bien’s sense of humour, he was like you met Idris Elba and you didn’t smash? It was a joke,” Chiki said.

She further explained that when Bien talked about giving her the freedom to do what she wants, he didn’t mean that she is allowed to violate the boundaries of their marriage.

“Then when he was asked on about marriage what he said is that ‘I don’t feel strong marriages you own your partner’ your partner has the freedom to do whatever it is they want to do,” she said.

Bien first hinted he was in an open marriage in June 2021 while speaking on the Sol Family show.

“Me and Chiki have this thing where if I ever meet my celebrity crush somewhere and I am in a situation where my celebrity crush wants to ‘engage in coitus’ with me, then so be it and vice versa,” Bien said in part.

“I don’t have a problem with it if that is what she wants, she should get it. You can’t stop a human being from doing that. But also I can’t catch feelings, I’m after her happiness,” Bien added.

However, the Sauti Sol singer vehemently denied he is in an open marriage in subsequent interviews with different media houses.
