Benga singer Atomy Sifa went into exile in Tanzania only to return to Kenya after the storm had subsided.

Atomy Sifa is a very popular name in the Luo music scene having hit the headlines back in 2017 when he composed and performed a song praising retired President Uhuru Kenyatta. He, later on, disclosed that he was paid Ksh6 million to write the song dubbed ‘Uhuru Nyale'(Uhuru is capable) which was critical of Raila Odinga.

This is the same song that almost cost him his life after he was almost lynched in his village by villagers who were irked that he composed a song praising Uhuru Kenyatta as opposed to composing a song for ODM Party leader Raila Odinga.

The song ‘Uhuru Nyale’ forced the Luo singer to move to Tanzania after he received numerous death threats from Raila Odinga supporters.

While in Tanzania, he also composed and released a song for the late John Pombe Magufuli which caught the attention of the late President as well.

Atomy made a lot of money from the ‘Rais John Pombe Magufuli’ song which praised the late President of Tanzania for the great work he was doing for his country and Africa.

The controversial singer built Rock City Jungle Resort –  a bar and restaurant about five kilometres from Adiedo trading centre in Kanyaluo ward, Homa Bay County – with the money Magufuli paid him for composing the praise song.

“While I was in exile – after composing a song for pr, I composed a song for the late president. He paid me and I decided to use the money to invest in the entertainment industry,” Atomy Sifa said.

He employs eight people at the bar, including a security guard, a cashier, waiters and a manager.

Atomy Sifa, a father of six, has composed a number of songs, including some praising Raila Odinga.

Other notable personalities in some of his songs include Homa Bay governor Gladys Wanga, former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero and former Homa Bay governor Cyprian Awiti.
