Oscar award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o has landed a new job thanks to her father Kisumu governor Professor Anyang’ Nyong’o.

Lupita Nyong’o is expected to touch down in Kisumu before May 17th to assume her new role as Africities Summit goodwill ambassador.

African Cities (AfriCities) is a pan-African conference held every three years since 1998 when the first meeting was held in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.

Convened by United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG-A), headquartered in Rabat, Morocco,  AfriCities brings together the leadership of cities (mayors), sub-national and local governments with the aim of improving the living standards of their citizens.

The summit is organized every three years and takes place over five days. It is organized in different regions in Africa.

Kisumu city will host the 9th edition of the Africities Summit from May 17th to 21st 2022 under the patronage of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The theme is: ‘The role of intermediary cities in Africa in the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda and of the African Union’s Agenda 2063”.

For the first time, the summit will have a goodwill ambassador – Lupita Nyong’o. Host governor Ayang’ Nyong’o appointed his daughter to promote the summit.

Lupita’s role has no benefits at all to her money-wise, in fact, it’s Kisumu county that is benefiting most from her international celebrity status to promote the summit.
