AKA is gutted to this day after finding out that his close confidant Riky Rick passed away.

AKA is not alone in mourning the untimely death of one of the best rappers Africa has ever seen who surpassed the plateau that he had set out for himself.

Away from music, Riky Rick was also a boss in his own right, he was happy seeing young established and upcoming artistes winning in the music industry and that’s probably why he came up with a platform, Cotton Fest that celebrates every other artiste out there; established or otherwise.

Riky Rick was super successful, super talented and a fashionista who was way ahead of his time because he was pulling some fashion sense that nobody in the world had ever seen.

Eish! we will surely remember Riky Rick not only through his music which helped shape the hip hop industry not only in South Africa but in the entire African hip hop scene.

Riky Rick will forever vicariously live through his music, his fashion, his investments, his kind heart, and being a philanthropist but most importantly through his family.

Expressing himself through a long post on Instagram two days ago, AKA who was very close to Boss Zonke opened up about the state of our men in the country.

The award-winning rapper urged the country to have a conversation about how damaged and broken the men in South Africa really are.

He intimated that he knows 4 men out of 5 who took their own lives taking note that he’s seen a lot of people taking their own lives in the past year alone which is something that needs to be addressed.

“Let’s keep it 100. The last 5 people I know who took their own lives, 4 of them are men. I’ve seen so much suicide over the last year I can’t even feel anything anymore,” AKA wrote in part.

He also touched on people saying that he recently signed a lucrative deal with African Bank so they don’t see any reason why he would have taken his life. AKA went on to say that we are living in an algorithm that doesn’t allow us to see beyond the success of a person which isn’t a good thing at all.

AKA disclosed that Riky Rick grew with money so he was used to having money of his own.

“I’ve spoken to a lot of people, some of them said “He just got a bag from African Bank blah blah etc … “ … that tells you everything you need to know about this [expletive] up, fake [expletive] algorithm world we have created for ourselves to live in.

Riky went to Hilton, he grew up around money. I hope that very soon we can address the issue of how damaged and broken the men in this country are,” the ‘Don’t Forget to Pray’ rapper continued.

Kiernan Forbes went further to explain that men in South Africa do not have anybody to talk to despite most of them being traumatized but society expects them to act all alpha and keep going on with life despite them needing assistance, help, or even somebody to talk to.

The rapper even urged people to at least start going to Church again, reset and go back to family values(which also happens to be Riky Rick’s debut studio album that changed his life completely) but most importantly start a conversation about men in South Africa because “it’s our duty to protect you, to provide and care for you”.

“We have no one to talk to, we just pat each other on the back and say, “get on with it, be strong my boi” … but in reality, we are traumatized. Generational trauma is passed down to us.

Ladies, we are not perfect by any means … but damn, we are crying out for your approval, your love, and affection.

Please, can we RESET and go back to FAMILY VALUES?!. Can we (myself included) start going to Church Again? Please, can we start some sort of dialogue about MEN in this country because it’s our duty to protect you, to provide and care for you?

We cannot make this thing work without each other. We are crying out for your help.” AKA went further on his lengthy Instagram post.

AKA urged society, in general, to not forget about me any time soon because there have been a lot of suicides for so long thus the importance of something has to be done to change this cycle.

“This is so traumatic. Please, let’s not forget about us. We are not perfect by any means but damn …. Look at the stats, we are taking our own lives at record highs. Something has to change. 💜,” AKA concluded on his social media post.
