AKA says he wasn’t paid for SneAKA Reebok deal

AKA made not only South Africa proud but the entire African continent proud by being the first mainstream rapper to have his own collaborative signature shoe with an international shoe brand. In AKA’s case, it was Reebok.

AKA together with his brother Nicky designed the SneAKA that took over the entertainment scene across Africa and sold out since the sneakers rolled out were limited.

What came as a surprise though was that the rapper wasn’t paid for the collaboration with Reebok when it came to designing the SneAKA, granted, he was paid for his ambassadorial role in the company.

A megacy fan took to social media to let the whole world know how happy he really is to have a pair of AKA’s SneAKA stressing how comfortable they are as compared to the many pairs of Air Force sneakers he owns.

AKA finally shares photos of his ‘SneAKA’ sneakers expected tomorrow

“Those air forces are fire but the SNEAKA is special because it represents one of our own. And it’s more comfortable than any pair of air forces that I own” said the tweep.

“Can you believe they didn’t pay me a single cent for this? … not one cent,” AKA responded to the tweep saying he wasn’t paid a single cent for the SneAKA surprising netizens and capturing netizens’ attention because most of us thought he broke the bank with the deal.

However, AKA gave credit to Reebok saying that he was paid for his ambassadorial role for the company but not for the SneAKA.

It was somewhat like a pro bono deal he did for them since they’ve been good to him for years.

“There was no contract. Only my contract as an ambassador. A contract regarding the #SNEAKA doesn’t even exist ” He said.

AKA was later on told by the conglomerate brand that they won’t be renewing his contract at the end of 2019 because the brand was shifting from the Reebok classic direction to mainly and predominant sportswear.

AKA who is a serial entrepreneur does not have any ill-feeling toward the brand because it has always been his dream to collaborate with an international brand to bring something unique and amazing in sneakers, and they gave him an opportunity to do just that.

It’s believed that only 600 pairs of AKA’s SneAKA were rolled out making them already a classic before they were released officially.

The SneAKA’s reselling price is going to be crazy!
