Garissa Town MP Adan Duale has sponsored a draconian Bill in parliament that seeks to severely punish people who consume or trade in adult movies.

The draft Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes (Amendment), 2020 Bill will make it illegal to publish adult content and terror information on the internet.

Duale wants Kenyans who consume porn to be imprisoned for 25 long years

Atheists in Kenya Society has come out to strongly oppose Duale’s draconian Bill.  The group’s president Harrison Mumia said the move would instead result in a boom for the porn industry.

“Illegalising porn will only result in a boom for the pirated porn industry. We are vehemently opposed to this Amendment Bill. We believe that MP Aden Duale is being driven by religious bias in pushing for such a punitive Bill,” read the statement in part from Atheists.

Duale’s Bill seeks to address the issue of moral decay among young people following the liberalization of the internet.

The atheists president called on the government to focus on educating the youth on matters sex saying the proposed ban will not solve the problem.

“It will probably increase the sale of pirated porn. Instead of banning porn sites, we propose the introduction of mandatory sex education as part of our education curriculum.

“Sex education will actually limit porn viewing among adults. Parental guidance on age-appropriate surfing may also help.
