Bobi Wine responds after president Museveni revealed why he banned his concerts

Bobi Wine has always been frustrated by Ugandan authorities whenever he tries to hold concerts. The musician-cum-politician has emerged as the most vocal critic of Yoweri Museveni’s government.

Speaking during an interview with BBC, the Ugandan strongman labelled Bobi Wine an enemy of Uganda’s prosperity. Museveni stressed that he could not allow the musician to benefit from the country’s prosperity yet he is against it.

“Bobi Wine went to America and said that people should not come to invest in Uganda. That means he is an enemy of progress in Uganda. When you go and tell foreigners that they should not come and invest in our country, you are waging war on prosperity. So why then do you want to come and take advantage of that prosperity,” said Museveni.

Boni Wine’s attempts to hold music concerts have always been met with stiff resistance from the country’s police and army, leading to multiple arrests of himself, his supporters and revelers.

The firebrand musician hit back at Museveni in a quick rejoinder after the no nonsense president labelled him the enemy of Uganda’s prosperity.

“Shamelessly Mr Museveni brands me enemy of Uganda’s progress! Mr. President, your first name is corruption, second liar, third despot. You’ve run down our country, killed our people, destroyed institutions and rule us through the barrel of the gun. You are the enemy of Uganda,” said Bobi Wine.
