Wamlambez/Wamnyonyez chants have crossed the border, and guess who has joined that bandwagon – American actor/singer Jamie Foxx.
For starters, Wamlambez/Wamnyonyez chants were made popular by Kenyan musicians Sailors who dropped a hit song dubbed ‘Wamlambez ‘.
The song has since garnered over 2 million views on YouTube since it was uploaded on April 5th 2019. It’s from the song that the chants Wamlambez/Wamnyonyez became popular.
In the streets, whenever one shouts “Wamlambez” the response is usually “Wamnyonyez”, the phrase is loosely translated as “lickers and suckers” in English.
American actor-cum-singer Jamie Foxx has been sucked into Wamlambez/Wamnyonyez euphoria. Kenyan fashion designer Mama Foli is the one who has taught Foxx to say the Walambez chant.
In a video shared on social media, Mama Foli is seen teaching Jamie Foxx to make the Wamlambez/Wamnyonyez chants.
