Britain’s most decorated athlete has been knighted by the queen. Mo Farah received his knighthood from Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday November 14th.
Sir Mo Farah, who was accompanied by his wife Tania, couldn’t hide his joy after he was knighted at Buckingham Palace.
“I’m so happy to be awarded this incredible honour from the country that has been my home since I moved here at the age of eight,” said Sir Mo.
A knight (in the UK) a man awarded a non-hereditary title by the sovereign in recognition of merit or service and entitled to use the honorific ‘Sir’ in front of his name. [sic]
Mo was knight thanks to his success in 5,000 and 10,000 km race. The British-Somali athlete won gold in 5,000 and 10,000 km race in both London and Rio de Janeiro Olympic in 2012 and 2016 respectively.
