Incidences that prove Jomo Kenyatta’s legacy has strongly been undermined under Uhuru’s presidency

Jomo Kenyatta legacy has never been under threat in the three previous administrations like it is now in president Uhuru Kenyatta’s regime, Jomo’s own son.

Uhuru continued attacks on the Judiciary and specifically the Supreme Court and its judges is the reason why his father’s legacy is under threat.

Attacks on Justice Isaac Lenaola have lead to demonstrations in Samburu by residents who demand the renaming of Kenyatta Stadium to Lenaola Stadium. Two petitions were filed at the Judicial Service Commission seeking the investigation and removal from office of Justice Lenaola and Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu over alleged gross misconduct.

The two Supreme Court judges are among four who annulled President Kenyatta’s win in the August 8 General Elections citing irregularities and technicalities that they ruled affected the entire election process.

Another threat to Kenyatta’s legacy came when activist Okiya Omtatah wrote to Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) governor Patrick Njoroge demanding the removal of images of the first president Jomo Kenyatta from all Kenyan notes within 7 days.

Omtatah’s demand has since gained traction as chants of Kenyatta’s image removal from Kenyan notes continues getting louder and louder.
