Nakumatt TRM becomes the 4th branch to be closed in 2017

Nakumatt’s troubles continue to worsen as evident with the latest move by the largest supermarket chain to shut down Thika Road Mall (TRM) branch.

The family-owned business is fighting to cut back on massive debts owed to suppliers estimated at Kes 15 billion as at February 2015, a situation that has been piling pressure on its operations.

Nakumatt started 2017 by closing its Ronald Ngala branch in February citing low sales. Things got worst and the largest retailer decided close Nakumatt Haile Selassie Branch.

Early September 2017 Nakumatt made a decision to close its branch at NexGen mall, Mombasa Road which was just opened in December 2016.

And today September 18th Nakumatt announced the closure of TRM. A notice posted at the TRM entrance suggested the closure was to allow for stock-taking by the troubled retailer.

Meanwhile Nakumatt also closed three branches in Uganda in July; stores in Acacia Mall, Kololo, Village Mall, Bugolobi and Victoria Mall, Entebbe were closed on May 31st.
