Kamiti Maximum Security Prison warders were forced to shoot at two inmates who were trying to break out of the prison on Tuesday afternoon.

Prisoners returning to Nairobi Remand and Allocation Prison from field work are held and checked for carrying anything in a courtyard near the entrance during celebrations of “Talent Behind Bars”, a programme held for International Day of the Gifted by the Government of Kenya and representatives from NGOs at the Nairobi Remand and Allocation Prison in the city’s Industrial Area, built in 1911 by the British during the colonial period.
