Yesterday a rogue police officer said to be an Al Shabaab sympathizer walked to his workplace at Kapenguria Police Station and took a gun from a colleague whom he shot dead alongside others, before taking over the station.
He then took cover inside the police station from where he fired shots at any officer who attempted to confront him causing an eight hour-long standoff.
The rogue police also held hostage prisoners and suspects in the cells at the station. It took the intervention of Recce squad flown from Nairobi, to end the stalemate when they killed the rogue cop.
The attacker has been identified as Constable Abdihakim Maslah. He killed eight police officers including one Recce commando.
