They are Africa’s most famous travel-vlogging power couple, but behind the scenic backdrops and joyful “Village to the World” videos, Wode Maya and Miss Trudy were fighting a devastating private war.
In a series of emotional updates shared on Sunday, January 11, 2026, the couple revealed that they suffered a staggering six miscarriages over the course of four years.
Miss Trudy, returning to YouTube after a seven-month hiatus, admitted that the pain became so frequent that they chose to stop telling their families about the losses to avoid causing them “unnecessary stress.”
“We got to a point because we were having many miscarriages… we could not tell our families,” Trudy narrated. “We decided, let’s not stress them out.”
The journey began with a crushing blow in September 2021, when the couple was told by medical professionals that they could not have children.

In a testament to his devotion, Wode Maya (born Moses Maya) proposed to Trudy just three months later.
They wed in September 2022—a date chosen for its bittersweet significance as it marked the 13th anniversary of the passing of Trudy’s mother.
“September 2021—we were told we couldn’t have children. December 2021—I asked her to be my wife,” Maya shared in a moving social media post.
After years of what Maya describes as “every challenge, every loss, and every tear,” the couple’s fortunes changed in 2025 when they became pregnant again following their sixth loss.

While the couple is now celebrating, the emotional scars remain. Trudy explained that her father and Maya’s mother were only aware of two of the six miscarriages.
The couple shouldered the burden of the other four entirely on their own, a decision Trudy says was necessary for her family’s mental well-being.
“God is the greatest,” Maya wrote, crediting his faith for carrying them through the dark years.
As they finally share their testimony with millions of followers, the message from the Maya household is one of unshakeable hope: even after the deepest grief, a new day can dawn.
