Matamu Music, whose real name is Marta Mumbua, has spoken openly about her decision to step away from the music industry after giving her life to God around June 2020, revealing that it has now been about five and a half years since she made that life-changing choice.
In a video shared online, Marta reflected on the milestone, expressing gratitude for how the journey has unfolded.
“I just realised that it’s been around five and a half years. It’s all been good, God has been good,” she said in part on the video she shared online recently.
She has not released any new music since her last song, “Hustle,” which was released five years ago, marking her quiet exit from the industry.
Explaining her decision to leave music behind, Marta emphasized that the break was deeply personal and spiritual rather than career-related.
“When I was taking that break it was more spiritual than anything else,” she added, shedding light on the reason behind her prolonged absence.
While she has largely stayed out of the public music space since then, Marta says she has never looked back and remains grateful for the journey. She also acknowledged that several people played significant roles in her life throughout the five and a half years, noting that their stories will be shared when the time is right.
Five years on, Marta Mumbua’s story reflects a deliberate decision to step away from the spotlight and focus on faith, growth, and personal transformation.
