In a world of “split bills” and “situationships,” media star Steve Maghana, better known as Oga Obinna, has stunned fans by revealing the staggering lengths he went to for a woman he didn’t even love.

The comedian and YouTuber disclosed on Friday that he once handed over a jaw-dropping Ksh1.8 million in cold hard cash to settle a secret car loan that was “crushing” his then-partner.

Speaking to Flossy Trukid in a candid sit-down, the father-of-four explained that while the spark was missing, his sense of duty was not.

The drama began when Obinna discovered his partner was hiding a massive financial burden. Despite the relationship lacking a romantic foundation, the star felt compelled to step in.

“For my ex-lover, the biggest amount was Ksh1.8 million. She had a car loan that she had not told me about, and when I found out, I realised how stressed she was,” Obinna recalled.

In a move that sounds like a scene from a Hollywood thriller, Obinna headed to his local branch to make a massive withdrawal.

“I went to the bank and withdrew close to Ksh2 million. I gave her Ksh1.8 million, then we went to another bank where I deposited the money to clear the loan.”

Shockingly, the star admitted: “At the time, I did not love her, but I respected her, and we were building something together, so I felt that if there was a problem, we should solve it.”

However, the million-shilling gesture didn’t buy a peaceful breakup.

Obinna revealed that the transaction later exploded into a “huge scandal” when the ex-lover began making claims that put his reputation at stake.

To clear his name, the media mogul had to take the extraordinary step of sharing his private banking documents with the world.

“I had to share the receipts to show my signature, the date and time I withdrew the money, and proof that the Ksh1.8 million was used to clear the loan,” he said, adding that the receipts were his only shield against the online fallout.

It appears the Ksh1.8 million payout was not an isolated incident. Obinna—who describes himself as a “lover who goes the extra mile”—revealed he has a habit of putting his partners in the driver’s seat.

“Apart from cash, I have also bought cars. I have bought about three cars in total, and I bought two of them for one of my baby mamas,” he shared.

When it comes to his dating preferences today, the star says he doesn’t have a “type” regarding skin colour, but admits physical attraction is non-negotiable.

“Physical attraction, especially body shape, does play a big role,” he added.
