In a night filled with high-octane energy and tear-jerking nostalgia, Sauti Sol officially ended their hiatus on Thursday night, December 18, 2025, reuniting on stage for a historic performance at SolFest 2025.
The group—comprising Bien-Aime Baraza, Willis Chimano, Polycarp Otieno, and Savara Mudigi—in late 2023 announced they were stepping away to focus on solo “Alone-Together” projects.
Stepping onto the stage at a packed Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi on Thursday, the quartet proved that their chemistry remains untouched.
The reunion was specifically curated to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the festival and their critically acclaimed album, Midnight Train.
As the opening chords of their hit singles echoed across the grounds, the VIP crowd—who had paid up to Ksh25,000 to witness the moment—erupted in cheers.
Clad in their signature eclectic fashion, the band moved through their catalog of hits with the same precision and soulful harmony that made them global superstars.
The reunion wasn’t just about Sauti Sol; it was a celebration of the Kenyan “Urban Sound” evolution.
The group curated a “Three Generations” theme, sharing the stage with 1st Generation legends including Jua Cali, Nameless, Sanaipei Tande, and Redsan.
The transition from the “Old School” legends to the Sauti Sol era, and finally to the “New Wave” stars like Lil Maina and Njerae, created a seamless timeline of the country’s musical heritage.
While the group had previously described their break as “indefinite,” the sheer power of Thursday’s performance has sparked feverish speculation that a permanent return could be on the horizon.
For now, however, the band is focused on the Fan Show scheduled for Saturday, December 20, where they are expected to perform for an even larger audience.
