In a heartfelt interview, media personality Ciru Muriuki has candidly shared her profound grief following the devastating loss of her fiancé, Charles Ouda, who tragically took his own life last year.
Her emotional account reveals a journey from joy and anticipation to shock and heartbreak in the blink of an eye.
Speaking with Stephanie Nganga on December 10, 2025, Ciru described how her world was turned upside down when she learned of Charles’s death.
What was once a future filled with wedding plans and shared dreams suddenly became a landscape of sorrow and uncertainty.
“It was mourning him. We lost such an important person,” she said, her voice trembling with emotion.

“The shift from happiness to heartbreak was so sudden. I went from planning a wedding to figuring out cremation,” she added, her words painting a vivid picture of the emotional rollercoaster she endured.
The grieving process was not only mental but physical. Ciru revealed that the pain manifested in her body in ways she had never experienced before.
“I couldn’t eat, I lost so much weight,” she shared.
“During the first 12 weeks after Charlie’s death, I realized I had lost around 30 per cent of my body weight. It was a shock — I couldn’t understand what was happening around me.”
She described those initial weeks as surreal, as if she had woken up in a different universe.
“It felt like I woke up in another world. Everyone else was speaking another language — like Japanese,” she said, highlighting how grief made her feel disconnected from reality.
Ciru confessed that during this period, she yearned for time to stand still.
“I was wishing everything would pause, so I could get off this ride,” she said, her voice filled with longing for a moment of peace amid chaos.

After more than a year, Ciru feels ready to speak openly about her ordeal, viewing her willingness to share as a sign of healing.
“It has taken me over a year to say that Charlie is dead,” she explained, a moment of vulnerability that underscores her courage in confronting her pain.
Charles Ouda, 38, passed away on the night of February 3, 2024, in a tragic act of self-harm.
His death has left a void in the hearts of those who loved him, and Ciru’s story is a powerful reminder of the devastating impact of mental health struggles.
As she continues her journey of recovery, Ciru hopes her story will shed light on the silent pain many endure and inspire others to seek help in their darkest hours.
