Comedian-turned-activist Eric Omondi and his girlfriend Lynne Njihia arrived at Chiromo mortuary on Friday morning June 28, 2024, to prepare for the final journey of his late younger brother, Fred Omondi.
A service was held at the mortuary, where Eric Omondi was visibly distraught.
Photos and videos from the event show Eric Omondi in a state of deep sadness, with his girlfriend Lynne and fellow comedian Terence Creative close by, offering their support.
In one poignant video, Omondi is seen crying, while Lynne and Terence hold him to provide comfort.
Eric Omondi had returned to Nairobi from his rural home in Sega, Siaya, where he had been since last week following a tribute concert for Fred held at Carnivore hall.
The concert, organized by a group of local comedians led by Churchill, honored the memory of Fred Omondi.
According to the funeral arrangements, the body of Fred Omondi will be transported to Siaya, where his funeral will take place on Saturday, June 29.
Fred Omondi tragically passed away in a road accident two weeks ago, leaving Eric as the only surviving brother after the loss of their other brother in 2018.
The comedian’s grief has touched many, highlighting the deep bond between the brothers and the impact of this loss on the family and the larger comedy community.
