Opposition supporters turned up in their numbers in Uhuru Park where Cord leaders held a parallel rally for Madaraka Day.
The government had initially banned the rally but it loosen its though stand after Raila and Wetangula were invited for talks at State House.
University of Nairobi’s students’ leader, Babu Owino, was among those who were present at Uhuru Park for Cord’s rally.
Babu is eying a political seat come 2017 elections, he has aligned himself to the opposition a clear indication he will be contesting with a Cord ticket.
Babu wore a combat fatigue when he showed up at Uhuru Park. His military regalia was similar to the one ex Cuban President Fidel Castro used wear in most public appearances.
